The 2016 Toyota Camry looks like it would of came before it’s predecessor.

2016:

2014:

Is it just me, or does the prior gen not look more modern?

The new Camry’s tail end reminds me a lot of the mid-2000s Accord. I much prefer the pre-facelift, especially in SE form as shown.

The old Camry is a lot “sportier” than the new one. Part of me feels like the newer Camry could’ve been a separate model, like the Aurion is in Australia.

I kind of feel the same about the Durango, except more like the second gen never happened...which it didnt.

The prior gen definitely looks cleaner, IMHO, especially in SE trim. The one on top looks like an XLE, which usually means more chrome, busier wheels, and older buyers. Side note, I saw a red Camry last weekend (just like the second one) at Walmart, dropped about 2" and it actually looked great. I have never, ever seen a modded Camry before — unless you count ill-fitted 20" chrome wheels.

I’m driving a rental right now for work and it's surprisingly nice. It's actually the first car I've driven with paddle shifters!

The prior generation was apparently too bold for Toyota.

The new one makes me think it’s trying to be an Avalon or something when it grows up. Which, to be entirely fair, is probably what Toyota was going for, but making connections to the Japanese Buick (even if they’re trying to push the Avalon’s average age down) is probably not the best strategy.

I think that from the rear, the new one looks older, but from the front, the new one, looks well, new

The second-gen Durango is one of the worst modern vehicles ever conceived by mankind.

Ford did this with the Taurus, the design that should have prepped us for the melted jellybean came out after the melted jellybean.
